Kyouko Kaneki (金木 杏子, Kaneki Kyōko) was a very quiet, shy and kind girl to other students in her class who was always seen with Aki Matsui.
Appearance[]
Kyouko has long straight brown hair that has bangs swept to the right side and brown eyes.
She is typically wearing the standard female school uniform.
Personality[]
She is frequently shown with her best friend Aki Matsui (Kyouko's best friend) and appears to be a serious, yet sociable student. She does have a protective nature, as she can be seen holding Aki as the two try to escape the burning inn.
Plot[]
Kyouko was among the students who went on the class trip, alongside Aki Matsui, whom she shared a room with. In "Makeup", she and Aki heard the tape Takako Sugiura played over the intercom, informing the class that Mei Misaki was the "extra" student. Kyouko and Aki heard a commotion in the hallway and left their room to investigate, where they watched Ms. Mikami confront her angry students, only to be clubbed into unconsciousness by one when she tried to protect Mei. Horrified, the girls decided to escape the now burning inn, not taking part in the infernal madness the sanctuary had become.
In "Stand By Oneself", Kyouko was seen trying to escape the chaos while protectively wrapping her arms around a visibly distraught Aki. Tragically, the two encountered another, more bloodthirsty student, Tomohiko Kazami. Tomohiko stabbed Kyouko in the back with a chef's knife, mortally wounding her before pulling the blade from Kyouko's still twitching body to pursue a horrified Aki. Her body is later stumbled upon by Kouichi Sakakibara, who is shocked by this and the recent events, questioning "Has everyone lost their minds?"
Though not shown, Izumi Akazawa encountered Kyouko's body and began to pursue Tomohiko. Killing him with an iron bar to protect Kouichi, Izumi taunted Tomohiko's dead body, telling him he didn't deserve to live as he'd already killed two people.
